Day 1
When you arrive collect your car from the Airport. Spend the day exploring Edinburgh, Scotland's magnificent capital city. You may be tempted to try Edinburgh Castle or the Queen's Palace of Holyrood, or both, but do set some time aside to enjoy The Royal Mile, Princes Street Gardens and the many other fascinating areas this wonderful city has to offer. Stay overnight at the Barony Castle hotel (or similar)
Day 2
Take a leisurely tour through Border country and visit Traquair House, the oldest continuously inhabited house in Scotland, which dates to the 12th- centry. Make your way east to Kelso and the largest inhabited castle in Scotland, Floors Castle before return to Barony Castle for your overnight stay.
Day 3
Travel north to visit Hopetoun House and Gardens just outside Edinburgh, before continuing on to the Palace of the Kings Scone Palace, where the kings of Scotland were crowned. Finish the day in St Andrews, the home of golf and a historic seaside university town, before making your way to your overnight stay at Fernie Castle (or similar)
Day 4
Begin your journey into the Highlands with a visit to Royal Glamis Castle, the setting for Shakespeare's Macbeth and the childhood home of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother. Continue north past the pretty Highland town of Pitlochry to Blair Castle, before continuing through the Grampian Mountains to Inverness, captial of the Highlands, for an overnight stay at Tulloch Castle (or similar)
Day 5
Head north-east through the Grampian countryside to the 16th-century Brodie Castle and Gardens, packed full of art and antiques, including fine French furniture, English, continental and Chinese porcelain; and a major collection of paintings, including 17th-century Dutch art, 19th-century English watercolours, Scottish colourists and early 20th-century works. Art appreciation is thirsty work, so make your way to the world-famous Glenfiddich Distillery to feel the heat rising from the mash tun, before indulging in more art at Craigevar Castle, located in a fabulous setting in the hear of the Cairngorms National Park. Return to Tulloch Castle (or similar) for your overnight stay.
Day 6
This is an extended day of sightseeing in some of Scotland's most outstanding wilderness landscapes. Take the spectacular scenic road across the mountains to the west coast and the Isle of Skye for the day. Retun along the bank of Loch Ness to try to spot the 'monster' and take in the romantic lakeside ruins of Urquhart Castle. Return to Tulloch Castle (or similar) for your overnight stay.
Day 7
Take a drive to the Culloden Visitor Centre on the site where the course of British, European and world history was changed on 16 April 1746. The ferocious European war came to Scotland, dividing families and setting clan against clan to determine the destiny of the British crown. Travel south into the land of the Braveheart and Rob Roy legends, and the battlefield site of Bannockburn, which now boasts an impressie visitor centre, which gives a clear insight into the momentous battle between the Scotland and English. Take some time to explore the historic narrow streets of Stirling before continuing towardes Glasgow for an overnight stay a Sherbooke Castle (or similar)
Day 8
Return home, add another tour or an extra night
