Day 1
Arrive at the hotel and settle in. Explore the locality before enjoying dinner in the restaurant and your first overnight stay
Day 2
Start today with a visit to Ickworth House. Explore acres of space, woodland, wildlife, and a stunning architectural oddity, all with a story to match. See how one eccentric man's passion for art, Italy and for having a party led to the creation of this remarkable house and its renowned collection of paintings, portraits, furniture and other treasures. After touring both house and garden drive to Audley End House & Gardens, close to Saffron Walden. This is one of England's grandest country homes with over 30 lavishly decorated rooms to enjoy and explore. Stroll though the organic walled kitchen garden before wandering round the beautiful 19th century parterre, with magnificent floral displays. Travel back to your hotel for the night.
Day 3
This morning travel straight to Woburn Abbey and Gardens to spend a few hours marvelling at the splendour of the home of the Dukes of Bedford before enjoying the tranquility of the Abbey Gardens. After lunch, travel on to Aylesbury and visit Rothschild’s Waddesdon Manor where art collections, gardens and wine tasting await you. But be sure not to taste too much as you have to drive back to your hotel !
Day 4
To get the most out of today, check out of your hotel early and drive to the University City of Cambridge. En route call at Wimpole Hall, the largest country house in Cambridgeshire, just eight miles south west of the city. Take a tour of the Hall and gardens before continuing on to Cambridge to spend a few hours exploring the colleges, museums and riverside walks. Perhaps take lunch or a cup of tea in one of the many bistros and restaurants. Before starting your journey home, drive just six miles north east of Cambridge to Anglesey Abbey, a glorious Jacobean-style house with an eclectic collection of art, outstanding gardens and a working water mill.
