Wales'Great Little Trains

This tour will take you to enchanting villages and breathtaking scenery at the land of Dragons and Castles - Wales. Quaint steam trains stubbornly make their way to the top of the mountains, zigzags trough valleys, offering views of coves and coastal villages. Locals wave as you ride past their backyards and farms, a glimpse of a way of life embodied in traditions. A unique and creative itinerary, that moves away from the ordinary bus tour and allows you to experience Wales in all its true colors.

  • Transportation by Coach and/or Train for 8 days according to itinerary.
  • 7 Night Accommodation at centrally located 3* Hotels sharing en Suite Double Bedroom.
  • Full English Breakfast.
  • 7 Dinners
  • Entrance to Harlech Castle, Bodnant Gardens, Powys Castle.
  • Entrance to Conwy Castle.

Day 1 Arrive in Manchester and transfer to The MacDonald New Blossoms Hotel in Chester for a one night stay to include dinner.


Day 2 After breakfast you will drive by coach to Chester train station, leave Chester by train at 09:22am for the journey along the North Wales coast to Llanfairpwllgwyngyll on Anglesy (luggage will be transferred by coach to your hotel). We visit Beaumaris, for a light lunch and a view of the castle in this historic coastal town. We then drive to Caernarfon crossing over Thomas Telford's historic suspension bridge from Anglesey to the mainland and check in to your hotel for a 3 night stay at the Celtic Royal Hotel. Dinner at the Hotel.


Day 3 Today we take the coach to Llanberis, and from then further to the scenic Snowdon Mountain Railway at 10:00am to the summit of Snowdon, England & Wales's highest peak. We then drive up the Llanberis Pass to Pen-y-Gwryd and on to Plas-y-Brenin for a light lunch. In the afternoon we visit Betws-y-Coed to enjoy some leisure time and a tea break. Return to the hotel enjoying the drive through Nant Ffrancon and the slate quarrying village of Bethesda.


Day 4 Starting from the hotel we travel to the train station for a journey on the Welsh Highland Railway from Caernarfon to Porthmadog and then in the afternoon from Porthmadog we take the Ffestiniog Railway to Blaenau Ffestiniog where the coach will be waiting for the journey back to Caernarfon visiting the spectacular castle at Harlech on the way. Arriving back at the hotel in time for dinner.


Day 5 After breakfast we leave the hotel at 08:45am by coach to Porthmadog and board the scenic Cambrian Coast railway to Machynlleth at 10:00am. The coach will meet the group from Machynlleth for the drive to the seaside university town of Aberystwyth for a light lunch. The afternoon you will take a single journey at 14:00pm on the Vale of Rheidol - Aberystwyth to Devils Bridge, you will be met at the other end by the coach and then transfer to the Hotel in Llandrindod for one night stay. Dinner at the Hotel.


Day 6 Leave the hotel after beakfast and drive the scenic route to the walled town of Conwy and visit Conwy Castle at 11:00am and then on to visit the Victorian seaside resort of Llandudno. Here we take the Great Orme Tramway at 13:00pm to the summit of Great Orme with spectacular views over the North Wales coast and Snowdonia. We then take the Marine Drive around Great Ormes Head before heading off up the Conwy valled to visit Bodnant Gardens, one of the most beautifully landscaped gardens in the UK and then transfer back the Celtic Royal Hotel


Day 7 This morning we drive to Welshpool this morning and visit Powys Castle, with its magnificent garden and then on to the historic market town of Llangollen. The next journey will be on a quaint steam railway from Llangollen to Carrog where you meet the coach for the drive through the Clywdian Hills and the Horseshoe Pass. We then check in to our countryside Rossett Hall Hotel. Dinner at the Hotel.


Day 8 After breakfast we depart for Manchester airport for your flight back home.
