Day 1
Collect your car at the airport when you arrive in London and take a leisurely drive to The Castle at Taunton for dinner and overnight.
Day 2
Start your day with a vist to Dyrham Park mansion and gardens. Continue your tour and drive to Lacock Abbey, the uniquely preserved country village that has been used as the location for many films including Harry Potter, Pride and Prejudice and Cranford. Enjoy the remainder of the day in the heritage city of Bath where you may like to visit the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey and the regal Bath Assembly Rooms before returning to The Castle at Taunton for your second night's stay.
Day 3
Check out of your hotel and drive through Cotswolds as you head for the Heart of England. There are a host of quinessentially English villages in this area so you will be spoilt for choice deciding where to break your journey - maybe spend some time in Broadway or Chipping Campden? Later in the day, enjoy spending time visiting the most impressive Hidcote Manor Garden and finally continue on to New Hall, your haven for the next two nights.
Day 4
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before heading out to Warwick Castle. This 10th century edifice immerses visitors in castle life throughout the ages, from the murky Middle Ages and gorgeous Georgians, right through to what life was like at the castle in Victorian times. Warwick truly does deliver everything that you'd expect from a castle - towers, ramparts, knights, princesses, jousting and spectacular birds of prey - and also has stunning gardens and grounds leading down to the river for all to enjoy. Return to New Hall to enjoy your second night in this wonderful hotel.
Day 5
The last but by no means least day of your British touring experience. Your first port of call is the stunning Blenheim Palace , a unique example of English baroque architecture. It is the home to the 11th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. Set in 2100 acres of beautiful parkland landscaped by Capability Brown, the magnificent palace is surrounded by sweeping lawns, award-wining formal gardens and the great lake. Inside, the scale of the palace is beautifully balanced by the intricate detail and delicacy of the carvings, the hand painted ceilings and the amazing porcelain collections, tapestries and paintings displayed in each room. Depending on your onward journey plans, if time allows, a visit to The City of Dreaming Spires, Oxford, would be the perfect way to round off this part of your trip before dropping your rental car off.
