Newark International Antiques & Collectors Fair
06 Sep 2011
The Newark International Antiques & Collectors Fair is the largest event of its kind in Europe - a world-wide phenomenon that must be experienced to be believed!
Held bi-monthly at the Newark and Nottinghamshire Showground on an enormous 84 acre site, the Newark Fair has up to 4000 stands attracting thousands of dealers and buyers from around the globe.
With its vast number of stands, there is quite possibly every item you could imagine, from chandeliers and rugs, to sports memorabilia and paintings, not to mention the finest antique furniture - the choice is endless! Click on the videos tab below to see a small selection of the fabulous things you can find here.
Only 2 hours from London by road and just 90 minutes by rail, the Newark Fair is also one of the most easily accessible of all UK antique fairs. A courtesy coach runs from Newark Northgate Station throughout the duration of the fair.
Nottinghamshire is, of course, famous for the legend of folk hero Robin Hood and his Merry Men. A great suggestion for groups would be to add an extra night to our 3 day Robin Hood Tour and time it to coincide with the Newark Fair, which takes place every 2 months.
Including visits to Nottingham Castle, Newark Castle, the Brewhouse Yard Museum of Nottingham Life, St Mary's Church where Robin reputedly married Maid Marian and Rufford Abbey Country Park, this is the perfect package for groups to explore the area.
