House and Rooms

Returning guests say that as you turn in through the gates and start up the long drive the cares of the world seem to disappear. Set in a commanding position above the parkland as it sweeps down to the river, Caer Beris Manor dominates the landscape. Once inside, after a warm welcome, relax in one our comfortably furnished lounges. They retain their log fires which are alight throughout the winter. We even have toasting forks should you want to practise the long lost art of crumpet toasting. A range of teas and coffee can be served at any time either in the lounge or on the terrace overlooking the river.

All of our 23 bedrooms are individually decorated to a high standard within the Country House tradition. As well as doubles and twins we have four poster beds, family rooms and a suite. Three of our rooms are on the ground floor suitable for disabled. All have private bathrooms, televisions, radio, tea and coffee making and telephones. Room service is available throughout the day and evening.

Our Grounds

As you start to drive through our gates you will see the river on your left side but you might be surprised a few hundred yards further on to see the same river on your right. This is because Caer Beris Manor was built in a horseshoe bend on the River Irfon. Important many centuries ago when the first fortifications were built on the site but now enclosing a haven of tranquility to enjoy.

Croquet on the lawn, river walks, bird watching in the woods and the adventure of crossing our swing bridge. There are two separate Sites of Special Scientific Interest protecting our grounds so they will always be as natural as possible. Among the species of birds spotted are kingfishers, dippers, herons, sandpipers and buzzards. Our fifty bird boxes are nearly always full of nesting visitors in the spring. Pets really enjoy our grounds. You can even bring your horse, we have a secure paddock

Country Activities

Caer Beris Manor today is a country manor house in the real sense of the word and remains true to its history as a sporting retreat. If you enjoy the countryside you will feel right at home here. Contemporary 21st century technology has altered sports dramatically whilst the terrain has basically remained the same.

Fishing at Caer Beris Manor

Some of the finest fishing in Britain is on our doorstep. The Irfon flows through our grounds and has first class Trout and Grayling fishing. Quality coarse fish are also caught. Salmon, although now not as numerous, run along our river. Our best fish in recent years was 38lbs. Fishing on our own water is strictly catch and release.

Additionaly day tickets can be purchased for the Groe Park beats but ensure this is done prior to fishing. Llyn Arlach, a first class trout lake, is next to the hotel and tickets can be purchased easily. Other trout still waters include Llyne Gwynne and the Elan Valley.

We can arrange for Fly fishing lessons for you with Bill Price, a highly experienced instructor who is STANIC and APGAI qualified. Both Salmon and trout casting is covered. Costs are £40 per hour for one or £50 for two people. All tackle is supplied. Phone 01982 552601 to book a lesson.

For the coarse fisherman, there are chub, dace, pike and perch. Barbel are present in the middle reaches of the Wye but are starting to move upstream. Carp fishing is available at Llandrindod and some other lakes in the area.
